Linux installation

Installation from repository

As JAG has been ported to several Linux-based systems, you can install it from the software repositories.

You should check your Linux version and see if the native or 3rd party repositories with games available for it.

The way of installation can vary for different systems so it is assumed that you're aware how to install.

Note: as there is no official support from XlabSoft team, packaging of JAG is done mostly by volunteers. Therefore, it is possible that repository includes not recent version of JAG. If so, consider installation from the sources found on this site.

Installation from binary package

1. Download binary package which corresponds to your Linux distribution & architecture.

2. Use your package manager to install the package (it can be rpm, gdebi, kpackage or others).

3. To launch the game, just type in the console:

Installation from sources

1. Make sure that you have installed development versions of the following libraries:

Qt 4.5.x or higher
xrandr
SDL
SDL_mixer

Use your package manager (YAST, Synaptic, Aptitude, Adept etc.) to do this.

2. Download source archive: jag-0.3.1-src.zip (2.3 mb)

3. Unpack it to temporary directory, i.e. ~tmp. You should get ~tmp/jag structure.

4. Go into ~tmp/jag directory and execute commands:

qmake
make
sudo make install

After this, root password will be asked and installation starts.

If everything was ok, JAG will be installed into /usr/local/bin directory,
and game data will come to /usr/local/games/jag.

7. To launch the game, just type:
